Per CBRT data, Turkey attracted some USD 1 billion 168 million dollars’ worth of foreign direct investments in the December of 2018. The figures show a 38% surge year-on-year. The media might insinuate otherwise, but the numbers are clear. The foreign direct investment figures published by the Central Bank reveals that Turkey was evidently successful in reassuring the markets.

  • In the year 2018, the total foreign direct investments reached USD 13 billion 163 million in value, marking a 14% increase compared to the previous year.
  • In 2018, manufacturing took the lead in total capital investments bringing in USD 2 billion, with retail, finance and energy following close behind.
  • In a year marking a solid plummet in investment figures across the globe, Turkey’s performance in foreign direct investments is being interpreted as a significant achievement.
